Rhinoplasty for wide nose

Fleshy nose has thick skin and thin cartilage and noses that have thin skin and thick cartilage are called boney noses. Nose operation on boney noses is better and easier, but some people think result of fleshy noses is less satisfactory and people with this type of nose should not have high expectation from their Rhinoplasty. With use of newer techniques it is possible to make a permanent beautiful nose for people who have fleshy noses. Now people may have this question that whether fleshy nose is revisable or not?

Surgeon by cutting bone and cartilage makes the indented form to the nose and usually the form of nose does not change for a long time except that the form of nose is changed because of a hit and it does not reverse to its surgery form.

you may have heard that fleshy nose surgery is returnable but by choosing a good surgeon you can have a good result.

The goal of any rhinoplasty (nose job) surgery is to produce a nose that both looks good and functions well. If performed correctly, then the nose should not return back to its original form.

While there is a 5-20% revision rate, a rhinoplasty should only have to be performed once. Look for a surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty. This will decrease the chances that you would require a revision.

Do fleshy noses reverse after Rhinoplasty ?

With older techniques nothing special can be done for fleshy noses. Because they included cutting cartilage and bone of nose so they were mostly reductionist. Fleshy noses have weaker cartilages. If these thin cartilages are cut and become thin although the nose maybe look smaller and more beautiful for a while ,but by passing time and functions of under skin , the nose stacks up and tends to downward . This is the reason that others say about a person whose nose is drooped downward.

But because fleshy noses are formed by shaped strength cartilage, reversibility or droopy of fleshy noses are decreased or maybe do not happen at all.

Strengthen of cartilage is done for fleshy noses .it means removing the needed cartilage from middle structure of nose ( septum ) and by them it  is possible to strength the tip of nose . So that when the process of doing plastic changes on the nose is started, changing the shape of nose (reversibility of nose) does not happen. Usually after fleshy nose surgery, more swell is seen and this is another reason that people have wrong idea about plastic surgery that nose surgeons after this type of operation use steroid vial to decrease the amount of swell after operation.

Indeed it is worth to mention that just having by big nose cannot called it fleshy nose and determining a nose as a fleshy nose is done by the nose surgeon .

Percentage of success of fleshy nose surgery

Many people who want to do Rhinoplasty ask this question from their nose surgeon that to what percentage dose fleshy nose operation be successful and usually people like to hear that, their nose surgeon answers this question with percentage.

Determining result of fleshy nose surgery with percentage has its` own special problems and it is possible to see different interpretation from that percentage. For example if nose surgeon says to patient that you will get 60 percent result from your nose surgery , immediately he or she asks this question  that what does that percentage mean ? Does it mean 40 percent is possible my nose will be bad? While this does not what the nose surgeon means.

You have to pay attention to this point that a nose will look beautiful if it belongs to a very beautiful face which is standard from all sides. Therefore 100 percent result from surgery is possible in a way that the face should be standard 100 percent. Beside, each person `s nose has its own capacity to be beautiful. For example a person, who has a big and fleshy nose, never gets the same result from his or her nose surgery as a person with a boney and thin nose gets that his or her problem is just having a small hump.

By considering the above mentioned points, if for example a person who has a fleshy nose and with normal beauty is said that you get 40 percent from result of your surgery , this means your beauty increases by nose surgery but if the standard of beauty is between 0 and 100 , you get 40 out of 100 .

Is hump grows back after rhinoplasty?

There is really no such thing as a dorsal hump that grows back after its reduction/removal during rhinoplasty. Once the bone and cartilage have been removed, these mature tissues do not have the capability to regenerate. The perception of a dorsal hump ‘growing back’ most likely reflects a hump that was never adequately reduced in the first place. When all of the tissues settle over time, and with the creation of some scar tissue, the dorsal hump can be seen to ‘reappear’. Whatever amount of residual dorsal hump that is seen after a rhinoplasty is merely a reflection of what was originally there. Regrowth should not be confused with inadequate removal.

You may experience swelling in the post-operative period that can take up to six months to go down, but this would still not be as large as your dorsal hump. After a six month period of time if you have a dorsal hump it usually is due to inadequate dorsal hump removal and scar tissue.

The results from Rhinoplasty can take many months to be totally visualized.  Please be patient. Often it helps to have a set of your pre operative pictures to place in a mirror to compare your old and new nose.

How treat Nose reversibility after rhinoplasty ?

Revision rhinoplasty, also referred to as secondary rhinoplasty, is a procedure to reshape or change your nose following prior attempted surgery and in case of nose reversibility . This is often done for patient who are not happy with first surgery for instance they did not get the result of fleshy nose surgery as they wanted. In case of hump nose, when hump grow back or surgeon did not remove it completely, patient may go under revision rhinoplasty.

Revision rhinoplasty is significantly more challenging than primary rhinoplasty, or those procedures performed for the first time. There is much more variation in terms of types of abnormalities encountered. In addition, prior scar formation makes the operation technically more difficult.

In some cases, revision surgery requires only minor recontouring of existing structures to achieve the desired refinement. However, most revision rhinoplasty cases are much more involved and typically demand an open approach.
